Believe, Care, Strive, Achieve

Welcome

“There are always teachers to talk to, no matter what you need.  You can always trust, not only your teachers but, the friends you make.”

I am very proud that this sentiment, communicated by a group of Year 6 children, reflects our school community.

The village of Alne takes its name from the Latin word Alnus (the Alder Tree) and is situated in lowland, which formerly abounded with alders.

Alne Primary School is a small village school maintained by North Yorkshire LA and is approximately 12 miles north of the City of York.   We have 162 children, in 7 classes, who come to learn with us.

Throughout the important years of Primary Education we aim to provide a happy, caring, stimulating and aspirational learning environment.  We aim for our children not only to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes and interests but to also develop friendships from which they will benefit, both now and in the future.

We are also very proud to be members of North Star and Polaris Teaching School Alliances.  North Star and Polaris formed a unique partnership in 2016 to support school improvement across North Yorkshire and work with around 70 primary schools in the region.  Our collective aim is to improve outcomes for all children through a self-sustaining, dynamic system of school improvement and support across North Yorkshire and beyond.

Alne Primary School, as part of North Star Teaching Alliance, is delighted to be working in partnership with Leeds Trinity University and Polaris TSA to offer early years and primary teacher-training places for 2017-18.
