Year 6 Girls Football Area Winners
On Thursday 3rd October, at Outwood Academy Easingwold, the Year 6 girls played against Linton in a football match to decide the winners of the Easingwold Area School Games Football Competition.
After a really well-planned training session delivered by the knowledgeable and confident Year 9 boys from Outwood, the game began. Ella was the first to score after a brave dribbling attack on the Linton goal. The Linton defence was tough to break down, and there was some fantastic goalkeeping and defending over the first half. Alannah was the second goalscorer just before half time with a fantastic shot from the edge of the area.
Nancy and Anais were determined in defence being committed in tackles and working hard. The midfield duties were handled confidently by Matilda, Hannah, Jess and Ella, and Abby and Robyn were brilliant in attack. The second half saw 5 more goals from Ella – a great performance.
After their win, the girls have now qualified for the Hambleton area football finals, where they will face tough opposition from as far afield as Northallerton, Thirsk and Boroughbridge. For all but one of the girls, this was their first competitive football match, and they all came away buzzing and enthused to try some more football outside of school – a great success!
This competition was provided by The School Games and Outwood Academy Easingwold.
