Olympic Pentathlete and ex-pupil Toby Price calls in for a visit
On the last day of term, the children in Key Stage 2 were treated to a visit from Toby Price, who, in October, represented Team GB at the Youth Olympics in Argentina.
Toby shared his journey with the children, from his time at Alne (including taking part in Mrs Robson’s marathon challenge) to his early sporting competitions and how he came to represent the country at an international level.
Toby competes in the pentathlon, which is a 5-event competition which includes running, shooting, riding, swimming and fencing. After his success in the Youth Olympics (in which he placed as the 17th individual in the world), he is hoping that with more hard work he can make the senior Olympic squad in the future. He shared stories and pictures from his experiences, and answered the children’s questions about his competitions and training. It was a fantastic visit and Toby really inspired the children, delivering the positive message that if you work hard and dream big, you can achieve anything!
