Alne Primary School has an active and well supported parent/teacher association, called “Friends of Alne School” (FOAS). All parents, guardians or carers of a child at Alne Primary School are automatically members of FOAS. All teachers are also members of FOAS. FOAS is run by elected members of FOAS who form The Committee.
This webpage welcomes you to FOAS and aims to tell you what we do and how you can get involved.
Parents play a significant part in school life and our Friends of Alne School raise money for the benefit of the children. However, the Friends of Alne School is about much more than just fundraising. It aims to encourage closer links between home and school and is an excellent way to bring staff, parents, pupils and friends together socially in support of the School, working towards a common goal.

- Refreshments for the school pantomime trip

- Year 6 leavers gifts
- Exotic animals visit to school
- BRICKS4 KIDZ® – Lego workshops
- Visit from storytellers in Interfaith week
- Souvenir Diamond Jubilee coin for every child

In addition to the committee members, each class within the school has a nominated parent representative. These parent representatives organise one fundraising event a year and where possible manage the event by asking other parents in their class to help. They use the weekly class newsletter to aid communication to all parents.
FOAS meet once a term to plan fundraising events, discuss finances and approve purchases. The Annual General Meeting is held in October. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings. Meetings are notified via email, the school website and/or notice boards at school. Minutes of all meetings are published on the school website.

The Salvation Army recycling bin on the school premises produces revenue depending on the amount we donate. This bin is for recycling textiles and shoes, please use it as much as you can.
We sell, via Caroline Flatekval (Chair) nearly new school uniform. We welcome all donations of uniform; please ask at the school office for Caroline’s contact details.
FOAS are always open to new fundraising ideas and initiatives. In the past we have successfully organised bonfire and firework’s parties, horse racing nights, a swimathon, Boden shopping parties, ladies indulgence evenings, Easter quizzes, children’s magic shows, sold house sports day t-shirts and cake stalls.
How you can get involved
There are many ways you can help FOAS. The best way of supporting is to attend an event with your family. This will help FOAS raise money for additional resources for the School and will give you an opportunity to get together with other parents, pupils, friends and members of staff. You could also support FOAS by helping your class parent representative organise/run an event.
