Class 2/3HW

Welcome to Class 2/3HW

Mrs Hopper and Mrs Wood are Class 2/3’s teachers.

Mrs Fowell will be their teaching assistant.

Welcome to year 2/3HW.

In our class we have both Year 2 and Year 3 children; Year 2 is the last year of Key Stage 1 whilst Year 3 is the start of Key Stage 2. We plan topic based learning to enable us to access the enriching opportunities that come with the revised 2014 National Curriculum programme of study. Full details of our topics can be found through our class curriculum tab. Our topic themes have an umbrella title and science, history and geography are taught in a cross curricular way within the theme. Romans and Anglo-Saxons are our history topics with science topics covering living things, habitats, teeth and the digestive system, electricity and sound. In PE the children benefit from a dedicated sports coach, Mr Easton, along with dance taught by Miss Sarah. The Year 3s go swimming every Wednesday to Thirsk in the Autumn term with their year 3 and 4 friends in Class 4 supervised by Mrs Harpin and Mrs King. French is also taught to the full Year 3 cohort together on a weekly basis by Mrs Hopper. Mrs Fowell teaches our religious education programme. The children are now located outside of the main School building which develops independence and confidence. To support this the children are encouraged to come into class independently, respect each other and organise themselves at the beginning and the end of the day. Welcome to our class!
