Believe, Care, Strive, Achieve

Class 1T 2019-2020

 Learning in Year 1 2019-2020

Year 1 started their year with a topic of Once Upon a Time. Over the summer the children created a piece of art work based around their favourite story.

The children enjoyed reading their stories to the class.

We then read lots of fairy tales and traditional tales.

In Science we sorted materials into groups depending on their properties.

Using our knowledge of materials we then tried to make chairs for baby bear (from Goldilocks) using paper and paper straws. It was a challenge to strengthen the paper and to also join it!

We have learnt about changes in the different seasons.

In maths we used animals from the 10 is a Crab story and made our part whole models.

We have also been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.

The run up to Christmas was particularly busy…
